This was the best Young Men/ Young Women activity I have ever been in charge of. I however can take no credit for its execution or success. Delia Woodbury, better know as Dee Dee. What to blame for everything. She put on a very impressive presentation. presentation was appropriate and elegant. Sister Woodbury has been educated and certified to be able to teach etiquette and manners. It was also interesting because she not only told the youth how to do certain things like how to place your utensils but why we are to place them that way. She made the presentation interesting by giving historical reasons for how these etiquette traditions have evolved. We had 28 youth in attendance. There were about 10 adults who managed the food serving. I made the biggest mistake by not presenting Sister Woodbury to the youth in a more professional manner.

Over all I think this was a very good experience for the youth. I don’t think they will realize how important this was until later in life as they realize they are confident in formal dinning situations and will impresses those around them with their poise and confidence.

The biggest thanks for that needs to go to Sister Woodbury.

I have been messing around with twitter. for a couple weeks now. I may be too late to really take advantage of the this new wave. But I am trying. The amazing thing is some guy got on started this little thing and has gotten over 100 thousand followers in about a weeks time. I can’t even put it in here because the reference contains 4 letter words. The posts to his twitter are funny and I can see why it is getting so viral. It just goes to show you there are new opportunities everyday.

I need to get out there and find the next one….

I want to tell you about a really cool site authored by Steve Cunningham. He reads and summarizes a book a week on his site. They are business books. He summarized the book with a little video, that really can be listened to and he throws in his two cents and philosophy. One of the things he advocates is finding what you are best at an pursuing that. He is also big on starting a conversation and keeping the conversation going.

Mike and my brother and I call the quest to find what we are best at “Finding our superpower” All heroes have a superpower, great strength, super speed, vast wisdom or some other divine attribute. I think for every superpower is a super weakness, or kyponite.

This is what I think my kyptonite is, my biggest weakness. While I have the great ability to solve problems and come up with solutions. I too often find my self getting distracted, sidetracked, and sometimes completely derailed from that path I am going down because I stumble upon or get wind of a new idea.

I have seen this over my life and I need to make sure to stay focused on superpower/s.

I can make this strength by just learning how to incorporate these new ideas into my focus and direction instead of taking the tangent.

We will see how it goes.
