I am trying to get back to St. George to work with Mike on his Google maps Video Idea. He has had pretty good success. And want me to come and see if I can sell some more video. I just have to find a way back to St. George.
Yesterday I swam at cottonwood heights. I only swam 3200 yards. I was beat and it took me 1 hour and 20 minutes. Plus it was outside and I got a bit of a mild sun burn.
today I walked and did a little jogging, very little jogging, for about 1 and half hours. I am still feeling pretty thrashed.
Since I am in Salt Lake looking for a job I went to Sharon and Steve’s ward today. In Priesthood we talked about revelation. This is probably the biggest thing that sets The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints apart from the rest of the religious world. Listening to the prophets, especially modern day prophets. However, I also got the distinct impression that the truth Latter-day saints have is the belief that we receive personal revelation to help us in our own lives. Also we realize that we only receive revelation for what we are responsible for. Like our own lives, our families and our jobs. I know I have benefited tremendously from the personal revelation in my own life. I know I have been inspired in my family dealing with with my wife and children and this has help us all be happier. I also know I have been inspired at work and that that inspiration has benefited those I was given the responsibility to manage.
In Sunday school we discussed Alma 43 – 52 This concerning the wars, Captain Moroni and the wicked Amalikiah. My dream one day is to make a G rated movie called Captian Moroni. With the right budget and talent it would be so cool to make a movie that covered those chapters. We discussed in class how to deal with problems. I really like Captain Moroni’s approach. He doesn’t have any problem really pounding on people when they get out of line. But when he feels they have been beaten and humbled he ends the conflict. Then he shows infinity mercy and lets the enemy go free if they promise not to come to battle again.
In Sacrament meeting one woman spoke about her son on a mission in Russia and all the difficulty they are having with the government and visas. They are also having difficult with the freedom of speech we take so much for granted in the United States. The Russian Government recently changed the visa rules that humanitarian visas only last 3 months instead of 6 which has caused the church to stop all American missionaries from being called to Russia. Satan is definately working in the hearts of the power people in Russia. I think this is also manifest in the brutal treatment the Russian State of Georgia. Hopefully this can be resolved quickly and peacefully. Only time will tell and we must pray for a resolution.
I started running again a couple of weeks ago. But I was probably pushing it to hard and after a week or so my Achilles really started to get sore one day during a run and the next day I could barely walk. I basically stayed off of it for a week. Other than the necessary walking around. After a week I didn’t really have any pain and I have started swimming and walking. According to a little research I did on the internet it indicated that would be okay. I will probably walk, stretch and strengthen over the next couple of weeks. It’s also nice getting back in the pool. I was inspired to start exercising more than just 30 minutes a day by two things. One was an article in the Wall Street Journal about an executive in Europe that had been a pro tennis player and used running as a way to stay in shape. It seemed like a good idea because it’s always hard find a place to swim and I can run almost anywhere. Another inspiration is the Olympics. There are all these athletes doing amazing things. I might not be able to swim as fast as Micheal Phelps, or run as fast as Usain Bolt. But I can still swim and run. Then there is the inspiration of Dana Torres that is 3 years older than me and is there getting a silver metal in the 50m Free. I will try to get in shape and start doing some triathlons. One of the benefits of more exercise is the ability and need to eat more food. I really like food so that is a bonus.
