Bragging up my Kids

October 11, 2008 by D. Gardner 1 Comment

While I believe all parents are proud of their kids I would like to say a couple of things about my kids today.

My daughter scored 3 goals today in her soccer game. She’s scored multiple goals in games before, but today a girl stepped on her foot and a her shoe came off, but that didn’t stop my daughter. She kept going around the girl and scored.

While they are young this is a competitive league where the team was setup and the girls were chosen because of their skill.

My oldest son is currently playing football. On defense he plays saftey. Unfortunately, because of my job search I haven’t been able to see him play in a game.

He also played soccer for 3 years. The thing I like to brag up about him is the last year he played, in a championship game, he scored two goals in that game; one with the right foot and the other with the left foot.

our Youngest is smart, I will post a couple of the lego vehicles he builds. I may even set up a blog just to show his vehicles. He’s only five, and while they aren’t elaborate they are clever. He’s much more advanced in his lego building skills than his older brother and sister were at that age.

I’ll write more later about my kids.

VP Debate

October 11, 2008 by D. Gardner 5 Comments

For some reason I only saved this and didn’t publish it last week.

As has been stated, this VP debate was watched by a bunch of people.

Here is my two cents

While I believe I am farily liberal in my beliefs. However,  I was a bit taken back by the stance Joe biden and I am assuming Barak Obama have on same sex/gay marriage.  It sounds like to me they believe “partners” should have all the rights of the traditional marriage.

The break up of the traditional family is the most damaging problem in America and the world.Traditional Family being defined as;  a Man and Woman being married,  staying true to marriage vows, bringing children into this family environment,  the mother staying home to raise the children, the man leaving the home each day to provide for the family, they rearing the children to be productive citizens in society.

Signs of the Times

October 4, 2008 by D. Gardner 1 Comment

I have been attempting for a week now to write about something I realized in Sunday school last week.  What I realized is that the troubles the world are experiencing are the result of moral decay of society.  Hurricanes, typhoons, earthquakes, wars, tsunamis, terrorist activity, and market instability all due to moral decline.   As the events of this week transpired, mostly market unrest. The basic cause of this is moral decline.  While I don’t think I am a prophet, I due believe I can have a voice in warning people to pay attentions to the signs.

In  last weeks Sunday school the topic discussed was  chapters 8-11 of 3rd Nephi.  It was brought up that all the calamity that befell the Nephites that had been prophesied by Samuel the Lamanite(check out Helman 14).

The instructor leading the discussion asked how does this relate to our day?  I realized that the world is now facing problems, like the peoples of old, that are a result of people disregarding the commandments.  I believe many have seen this and already realized it before.

However, I want to right this as a testament to my posterity that I recognized the signs of the times.

I think I am going to start a category called signs of the times and as I observe things that I believe are signs of the times I will add them to my blog.

Micronesia Guam Mission

September 27, 2008 by D. Gardner 1 Comment

I started my mission almost 20 years ago.  Today I got an e-mail from my first mission president that had a link to the newest mission presidents blog.  So I have included that in my cool links.  He’s already got a couple great pictures on his blog.

I should find one of my mission pictures to scan.
