Today in an effort to stay sane I decided to do a bit of yard work. Charles is spending a bunch of time at work in an effort to get a better job. Any way I started by using a hedge cutter to conquer some over-grown plants along the drive way, which is steep. I am guessing a 15 to 20 degree slope. This was my exercise for the day. It has all the elements of the perfect workout for me; Lots of sun, sweating, doing work that makes my muscles sore, and best of all something gets accomplished. Most of the time what gets accomplished when I am working out is I am getting a tan. I believe I could become a yard work bum. I could go from house to house telling people I would do their yard work for free, or mostly free. All I would require is a semi-cold drink of water several times during the day. I would get tan, I would get pretty ripped too. Maybe I should put up an advertisement on Craigslist. However, people may think of some kind of freak. No I think I am going to need referrals to get the yard work bum thing going. I am going to need to do some more thinking about this. I first came up with the idea as I was doing the weed whacking. You may think I am crazy or frivolous but I think I could get a new trend started. The yard working bum work-out. I could probably sell t-shirts, but probably not videos. Well maybe desperate women would by the video’s to watch a buff tan guy do yard work. I think that would be part of the second phase of my life as a marketing guru and yard working bum. Okay maybe that last part about the video’s was a bit frivilous. Long live the yard working bum.

Back to the Swimming
Today I swam again. The first time in two weeks. My arms were a bit sore to start off. I only swam 2000 meters.
10 x 100m
2x(50 x 100 x 200 x 100 x 50) m
I did something different and ran about half way to the pool which is about a mile.
The extra distance from yards to meters is mentally hard to adjust to.
It sure feels good later though.
Liz and Charles had a meeting today with a company that will help Charles find a job for a fee. I watched the kids. I was trying to help Daniel with his homework, but the rest of the kids were distracting.
Still job hunting.
Today's happenings
The internet is making it easier to find and connect with old friends. I sent a message through Linked-in to John Hall, a fellow that attended high school in St. George with Liz. He was always fun to hang out with. He is living in France working for Mercer.
I also talked to Mike my brother today and he has sold a couple more of his web videos. I also convinced Charles to buy the movie “Stardust” last night. It’s definately a fun movie.
Gustav the Storm didn’t do much damage, the Dow Jones Industrial average was down .26 % and Oil was down $5.75 a barrel today. So when will gas go down?
Jake eats rats every 5 to 7 days
Jake is my nephew Sessel’s pet snake. He’s some sort of python boa constrictor that is about 20 inches long. He’s big enough to be eating the medium size rats. On Saturday we went to the pet store and bought a live rat and took him home.
Sessel opened the top to the snake aquarium, held the rat by the tail, and dangled him above the snake. It was amazing how quickly, less than a second, the snake grabbed the rat out of the air, wrapped his body around the rat and started squeezing. The snake had grabbed the rat by the face so the rate wouldn’t be able to bite him. Jake also kept clear of the rats hind legs so he would not get scratched. And in less than 10 minutes the rat was swallowed by Jake. I am sure that scene is repeated thousands maybe millions of times everyday. It was brutal.
