\nMusic can change my mood, it can carry me away or it can help me focus.<\/p>\n
Every now and then, a song comes along that almost consumes me. \u00a0Sometimes, it’s only for a few moments. \u00a0Sometimes, it lasts a day or two. \u00a0And occasionally, it will consume me for months. \u00a0The great thing about music is that after some time that song can bring all that back. \u00a0I have a list \u00a0that is about 475 songs. \u00a0I randomly go through these songs in between new discoveries. \u00a0 Sometimes music grows on me and sometimes It consumes me quickly and then I discard it. \u00a0Either way the best way to describe my relationship with music is “addiction.”

I have also discovered over the years music is totally personal. \u00a0While people may like some of my music and I may like some of their music, the overlap is usually small. \u00a0Luckily, my wife and I have more of an overlap. \u00a0Our tastes are similar. \u00a0She likes some of the late sixties and early seventies music, like Simon and Garfunkel, Cat Stevens and others more than I do. \u00a0But one of my to 50 songs is “The Boxer.” \u00a0I really like Trance style electronic DJ type music, my wife only likes a few of the songs.<\/p>\n
I am to the point where I am very selective about the music I recommend to people. \u00a0I do like to share my experiences with music with people I know. \u00a0For instance, I have a subscription to a music service called Rhapsody<\/a>. \u00a0Every Tuesday is the day they release most new music. \u00a0One Tuesday I saw Willie Nelson had released a new album. \u00a0I thought to myself, “That is cool, he has to be 70+ and he is still putting out music.” \u00a0I pushed the button to play the album, mostly because the first song was called “A Horse Called Music” which I thought was a cool name for a song. \u00a0The song was okay. \u00a0The second song started playing and I wasn’t paying much attention, then I heard a voice I didn’t expect to hear. \u00a0Then I started paying attention to the lyrics, “…. roll me up and smoke me when I die” \u00a0The chorus seemed completely appropriate for Willie, but who was this new voice. \u00a0He sounded vaguely familiar but I wasn’t sure. \u00a0So I looked at the title of the song, featuring Snoop Dog. \u00a0I started to laugh. \u00a0Once again, totally appropriate for him too. \u00a0I was amazed, amused and happily surprised to see that both Willie and Snoop have a sense of humor and are not taking themselves too seriously. \u00a0I like to share those type of experiences with my friends and family. \u00a0There have been several other songs; for which I am pleasantly surprised at the lyrics and story. \u00a0Brad Paisely’s “Karate<\/a>” and “Harvey Bodine<\/a>.” \u00a0There is LL Cool J’s “Not Leaving You Tonight featuring Fitz And The Tantrums, Eddie Van Halen<\/a>”<\/p>\n Music can be fun. \u00a0Music can be happy. \u00a0Music can be relaxing. \u00a0Music can be motivating. \u00a0And Music can be grand.<\/p>\n My advice; just listen!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Every now and then, a song comes along that almost consumes me. \u00a0Sometimes, it’s only for a few moments. \u00a0Sometimes, it lasts a day or two. \u00a0And occasionally, it will consume me for months. \u00a0The great thing about music is that after some time that song can bring all that back. \u00a0I have a list […]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","_genesis_hide_title":false,"_genesis_hide_breadcrumbs":false,"_genesis_hide_singular_image":false,"_genesis_hide_footer_widgets":false,"_genesis_custom_body_class":"","_genesis_custom_post_class":"","_genesis_layout":"","jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","default_image_id":0,"font":"","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[12],"tags":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-794","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-journal-entry","7":"entry"},"modified_by":"D.
