Another day

September 18, 2008 by D. Gardner Leave a Comment

I was able to swim and do a little running.  Installed wordpress on my local machine.  don’t know why I haven’t done that before.  It was easy now I am going to have to set it up to show people for examples  and more testing.

swimming 1500 meters

5 x 50 bk/br

5 x 50 bk/fr

2 x 50,100,200,100,50

Then I ran out of time and had to quit.  Maybe tomorrow.  Lucky me, I can swim outside so I am getting a bit of a tan.  But the weather is turning colder here in Austin, the water was perfect for swimming.  We’ll see how long I’ll be able to swim in the unheated pool.

Yard work bum in Texas

September 4, 2008 by D. Gardner Leave a Comment

Today in an effort to stay sane I decided to do a bit of yard work. Charles is spending a bunch of time at work in an effort to get a better job. Any way I started by using a hedge cutter to conquer some over-grown plants along the drive way, which is steep. I am guessing a 15 to 20 degree slope. This was my exercise for the day. It has all the elements of the perfect workout for me; Lots of sun, sweating, doing work that makes my muscles sore, and best of all something gets accomplished. Most of the time what gets accomplished when I am working out is I am getting a tan. I believe I could become a yard work bum. I could go from house to house telling people I would do their yard work for free, or mostly free. All I would require is a semi-cold drink of water several times during the day. I would get tan, I would get pretty ripped too. Maybe I should put up an advertisement on Craigslist. However, people may think of some kind of freak. No I think I am going to need referrals to get the yard work bum thing going. I am going to need to do some more thinking about this. I first came up with the idea as I was doing the weed whacking. You may think I am crazy or frivolous but I think I could get a new trend started. The yard working bum work-out. I could probably sell t-shirts, but probably not videos. Well maybe desperate women would by the video’s to watch a buff tan guy do yard work. I think that would be part of the second phase of my life as a marketing guru and yard working bum. Okay maybe that last part about the video’s was a bit frivilous. Long live the yard working bum.

20 year highschool reunion is in September

August 31, 2008 by D. Gardner 1 Comment

Because of the my 20 year high school reunion is comming up I have been contacted by a couple of people from school. Three girls from my seminary class have contacted me Genia (Shy) Spencer, Nikki Allen and Justin Rylander. I have contacted a couple of people through facebook, John Krause and Kevin Couderman. It’s fun to think about the great time I had in High School. For the most part the stress, what little there was, has all but been forgotten and only the good and fun memories remain.

But I do feel like it is all in the past and I for sure don’t believe that I or any one else can bring that fun back even for a few moments.

Life for me has always had it’s magic. Where ever I am and what ever I am doing it seems like I am blessed to be having a magical time.

High School was magic, it was fun, it was exciting and it was freedom.

Swimming is Cool – WaterPolo is Cool – The Water, is well Cool

August 10, 2008 by D. Gardner Leave a Comment

Today was awesome for Men’s Water sports in Beijing. Water Polo and swimming

First was the US men’s waterpolo team against China.  I really like waterpolo.  I fell in love with the sport as a player in High School.  My favorite color is “Yellow” because waterpolo balls are yellow.   One of the things that makes me like the sport even more is the lack of waterpolo on TV.

The Olympics is just about the only time I get to watch waterpolo.  The US has never been favored to win gold.  But it was cool to see them win today.

Then Tonight, Well tomorrow morning in Beijing was soooooooo!!!!! cool to watch Michael Phelps, Jason Lezak Garrett Weber-Gale, and  Cullen Jones beat the attitude of the french.  It was the coolest swim race I have ever watched.

I was also on my high school swim team. So I know a little of how it feels to swim and win.

It was just a very cool day to be an American.
