Wanting more; good or bad?

March 23, 2014 by D. Gardner Leave a Comment

Meandering though my life each day I often find myself wanting more;   more money, more peace, more influence, more knowledge, more stamina, more good-looks.  I often think I am sinning in my wish for more.  Shouldn’t I be content with what I have?  Shouldn’t I be thankful for the blessing that have been provided me in this life.  I do try to be thankful.  Then I think, is being satisfied just being lazy.  Should I be getting up earlier to workout, read and study.  Should I be saying up later?

P.S. It’s interesting that Elder Dieter F Uchtdorf answered this question in general conference April 2014

Who is killing the American Dream?

March 21, 2014 by D. Gardner Leave a Comment

It seems every year I get poorer, even when I am making more money.   Everything seems to be getting more expensive.  Housing, Cars, healthcare, food and school.   Part of why I feel poorer is that the kids get more expensive every year.

I wonder when, or even if, things are going to change for most people.   Here is a couple of articles I’ve read in the last couple of days that are backing up what I feel.  I do feel that the really rich, that control the 95%, of the wealth continue to find ways to leach off more time and money from the 97% of the population that only have 1% percent of the wealth.

Here are the articles I read.

Weather

March 18, 2014 by D. Gardner Leave a Comment

How geneneric is talking about the weather?

It snowed yesterday and my feet are cold right now.

I am also driving an electric car. Batteries are less efficient in the cold. Therefore, my car is less efficient.

Overall, the cold just seems to be more painful to me now than it has been the past.

Maybe this is just a way that I’m being prompted to prepare for a move to somewhere warmer. We will see.

Hugging Everyday Keeps the World Together

February 12, 2014 by D. Gardner Leave a Comment

I was just thinking about all the hugging that must go on in every city in every country all day everyday. I think that is the power that keeps the world together.

I think we need to get world leaders who are about to go to war in the same room and have them hug for 20 seconds each day for a week before they can start the war.

What do you think?
